With more than 80 employees, the Chair for Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems and the Institute for Power Generation and Storage Systems are among the largest university research institutions for battery storage systems in Europe. We are continuously looking for motivated and highly qualified support to advance the energy transition. We deal with all issues arising from the planning and operation of battery storage systems, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. These range from system design and the development of operating strategies to profitability calculations and policy advice on all the latest battery-related topics. We operate our own fleet of electric vehicles, support the power grid with a large-scale battery storage system, plan the decarbonisation of industrial operations or advise political ministries on strategic decisions that affect our society. Your Profile

Your must-haves:

  • You are interested in familiarizing yourself with the technical issues of battery storage for grid stabilization
  • You have an independent, reliable and careful way of working and are always interested in learning something new
  • You are familiar with programming (Python, PHP, HTML) and are able to develop code independently
  • You have good German and English skills
  • You are enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences

What would be nice to have:

  • You already have knowledge in handling large amounts of data and databases (SQL)

Your Duties and Responsibilities

Background of the task: in the context of various projects on stationary battery storage, battery data is collected for later use and stored in databases. Some data will be processed in real time and presented online. This online platform/ website is to be maintained and expanded. Both in the data evaluation and analysis and in the presentation, there is work to be done to improve functionality and usability, which will be fulfilled. Furthermore, the project results are to be presented on websites.

Your concrete tasks: within the scope of the work, (partly existing) tools for the evaluation, analysis and visualization of battery data are to be tested and revised. The contents are to be made accessible via web pages.

  • Revision of the existing data analysis and visualization tools
  • Participation in the updating and maintenance of the website(s)
  • Support for various project-related work

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of initially 3 months.
An extension is being sought.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-12 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
