Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Import Agent to join our dynamic team. As an Import agent, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating import shipments, ensuring smooth customs clearance, and providing exceptional customer support throughout the process. You will work closely with clients, carriers, and various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
Responsibilities:
- Handle end-to-end import operations, including documentation, customs clearance, and transportation coordination.
- Liaise with overseas agents, suppliers, and customers to ensure accurate and timely shipment information.
- Coordinate with carriers and negotiate competitive freight rates.
- Prepare and process import documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and other required paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade compliance standards.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing regular updates to clients and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Work closely with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries and resolving any concerns.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in import operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in import operations within the freight forwarding industry is required.
- In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and import procedures.
- Strong understanding of international trade compliance and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, carriers, and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant computer systems and software applications.
- Proficient in English (both written and spoken)
- Fluency in German is not required but highly desired; knowledge of additional languages is definitely a huge bonus.
