Your profile

We are seeking candidates at the intersection of and life science. While deep expertise in both areas is not required, a background that includes both life science and quantitative perspectives is preferred. Suitable backgrounds may include, but are not limited to:

  • Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Quantitative Molecular Biology, or Biology with significant exposure to computational/quantitative methods
  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering with significant exposure to applications in life science

In addition, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program
  • You have a passion for software engineering in combination with data processing
  • You’re well versed in Python development
  • You’re comfortable working in a Linux environment
  • You want to learn more about cloud technologies such as the Google cloud platform
  • Apart from tech, you also love communicating and breaking down complex technologies for non-technical people
  • Work proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of German is a plus but not required

Your availability

  • You currently live in Berlin
  • You are available for ~20 hours/week during the semester
  • You have 12 or more months left until graduation

Our application process

After a first screening, applicants are asked to complete four steps:

  • 1. Online test, which assesses basic knowledge of python, SQL and software engineering
  • 2. Video interview (30-45 mins), during which we want to learn more about your motivation
  • 3. Data engineering case study, in which you can prove your conceptual and technical skills
  • 4. Interview day, you get to present your solution to the team. You’ll also have the opportunity to get to know your future colleagues, in a total of three individual interviews
