We are looking for a HVDC Technical Package Manager to work as Lead Engineer within our Business Area Wind, Offshore, Engineering.


The Engineering department is the technical know-how centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects to drive technical excellence through the whole project lifecycle.



Your role
Working within the HVDC package leadership of the Electrical Infrastructure department, the HVDC TPM shall report to HVDC Package Director and will be the focal point for all Technical HVDC deliverables providing technical leadership across the entire lifecycle of project delivery

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Main interface between the entire Norfolk HVDC engineering team, HVDC package management team, and all interfacing packages (Export Cable, Array Cable, Cable Installation, WTG)
  • Maintain an overall holistic view of the HVDC technology solution, including HV/LV Studies (National Grid), HV AC and HV DC Equipment, HV Plant Layout, C&P Hardware and C&P Software, HVDC related MV/LV Auxiliary Systems, CWC System, and integration to the HVDC design, and Converter Hall Fire Detection Systems (VESDA & UV/IR Detectors).
  • Managing project programme relating to the HVDC technology scope and feeding back to appointed HVDC package planner
  • Support the project to manage and control potential technical design variations from the Consortium
  • Main point of contact to Contractor relating to HVDC technology and System study subjects (counterpart of Contractor TPM)
  • Lead the team of engineers working within HVDC technology group
  • Facilitating and planning regular meetings internally within the package, with other interfacing packages and with the Consortium.
  • Responsible to keep regular engagement with the HVDC engineering team closely involved within the project and to monitor their well-being and motivation
  • Involved in all meetings with external partners and provide technical leadership relating to HVDC technology e.g. discussions with National Grid
  • Owner of all technical documentation coming from Contractor managing the document review and approval process
  • Involved in topics relating to OSS platform design / ONS civil issues working alongside Engineering manager and appointed structural/civil leads

Your profile

You will be comfortable in your role when you bring:

  • Extensive experience within transmission/distribution systems up to extra high voltage level. Experience drawn from across complete asset lifecycle a benefit
  • Comprehensive knowledge VSC technology as applied on onshore/offshore HVDC systems as well as dynamic reactive compensation
  • Experience in the design, system integration, construction and operation of transmission/distribution substations
  • Ability to identify and lead key technical topics, balancing both technical and commercial imperatives
  • Ability to effectively communicate and address intricate technical matters and recommendations in a concise and comprehensible manner, enabling senior management to make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in establishing and nurturing strong connections with various internal and external stakeholders, including Operations, Transmission Planning, Transmission Control Centre, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
